The concept of losing weight fast has been around for a long time and so have its consequences. The notion of a fad means short term; it comes and goes with popularity. Food faddism is synonymous with fad diet and refers to a peculiar eating pattern. History reveals strange eating patterns from centuries ago, when the Romans would stuff themselves and purge. Fasting has also been around a very long time. People would and still do fast for religious or political reasons.

The notion of a fad came about in the mid 1800s when vegetarianism became popular. It is no longer a fad but it was then. Now this is just another dietary choice, which can be healthy. The word diet used to just mean whatever you ate until the early 19th century. There are different accounts of the very first fad diet. In 1820, the vinegar and water diet came around. This diet swept Europe in the early 1800s. Around that time, men used to weigh themselves on public scales. It was some kind of status symbol as to your will or power.

The inventor of the graham cracker instituted a bland diet in the 1830s. A bland diet of course meant nothing spicy or rich. It sounds like eating spicy foods back then was kind of risque. Both of these diets left people weak and listless.

In 1912, an art importer wrote a book about the weight loss method of chewing your food 35 times. Burning calories while you chew? Next, the grapefruit diet came along in the 1920s and hints of it still linger today. This was an 800 calorie diet which included loads of grapefruit and all the coffee you could drink. With this low amount of calories, losing weight fast was easy and dangerous.

The first national weight loss program came to be in 1948. This was called Take off Pounds Sensibly diet.

The risks of fad dieting were well known by then. In the 1970s, there was a diet called the Last Chance

Studies have shown that most people who go on low carbohydrate diets do not stay on them. We have one hundred and fifty years of crazy diets. Fad diets why are they bad is because they do not work and they are very unhealthy. When will we get a clue? People have died from being on a fad diet and losing weight to fast. There is no quick way to lose weight. The real way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. Losing weight gradually on a well balanced diet including exercise is the healthy and safe way.

To lose weight fast, the best tip I can give you is to take massive action with a multi-prong approach.

Without going to extremes like surgery or even risking side effects with diet pills, you can lose weight fast in the natural way by focusing on these three areas:

- Change your eating habit

- Walk your way to weight loss

- Be active in your daily routine

1) Change Your Eating Habit

How many calories do you ingest from a typical meal at a fast food restaurant?

If you guess 600 kcal, you’re still short…

A packet of fries at a fast food outlet easily give you more than 600 kcal. And we haven’t even counted the burger and the carbonated drink!

Now, that meal alone gives you much more than you can burn and the excess is then stored as fat. Just imagine how much fat we keep storing in our bodies if we continue to eat the way we do.

In other words, we simply overeat!

So, you simply need to eat less per meal. If you can reduce at least one-third or even half of what you’re eating, you would not stop adding to your body fat.

The rule of thumb is to eat till you’re not hungry at each meal rather than eat till you’re feeling full.

As you eat less per meal, you should eat more meals.

What? Eat more meals to lose weight?

Yes, absolutely! Because if you just eat less per meal, you would feel hungry between meals and your body will think that you’re going through a famine and start to slow down its metabolism. So, eating smaller meals 5 or 6 times per day would not cause your metabolism to slow down unnecessarily.

2) Walk Your Way To Weight Loss

Walk, not run!

Yes, if you think you lose more weight by running, you’re in for a surprise.

Just look at any tread mill the next time you’re at a gym. The fat burning zone is always at typically 55% to 70% of your target heart rate which is lower than the aerobic zone at 70% to 80%.

The reason for this is that when you work out at the higher target heart rate, you would not be able to last. For people who are obese, they probably won’t even last for five minutes and that would translate to perhaps 50 or 100 kcal! But if they are working out at the lower heart rate, they could last for at least half an hour to one hour.

So, if you want to lose weight fast, a ‘quick’ way (or rather slow way) is to take long walks each day for at least 1 to 2 hours! Yes, you need that long duration in order to burn as many kcal as possible.

3) Be Active In Your Daily Routine

Every bodily activity helps you to lose weight including breathing, walking, working, even eating itself needs energy.

2.  Don’t attempt to do to much at first.    Attempting to exercise for an additional 60 minutes a day each week actually will not decrease any more weight than exercising half as much.   Your body is an amazing machine, but it needs time to rest and adjust after  good physical exercise.

3.  Start a exercise plan  that provides at least fifteen to thirty minutes brisk activity. Exercise such as swimming, brisk walking, jogging, step aerobic  and even dancing.

4.  Listen to your body.  Not all weight loss programs work for everyone.  Different body types, physical capabilities, medical conditions and diet restrictions and other factors will determine what plan or exercise is best for you.  For instance, if all you are able to manage is brisk walking, continue to concentrate what works for you.

5.  Never  eat prior to crawling in bed. Your body burns off fewer calories as you sleep.  Those late meals will settle in your stomach and won’t properly metabolize and will be stored as unused energy.  Have you eaten a late meal and woke up the following morning feeling restless.  Your stomach is an energy burning machine.  It will work overtime trying to convert those late meals to useful energy.  But be sure you fuel your body early in the morning to avoid hunger pains later on in the day.  If you eat at least 5 times through the  day you’ll never get the hungry feeling.  Be certain that overall calories ingested are wise and do not overindulge, practice portion size control during all meals!
